Player Selection Process

SELECTION PROCESS
FOR SHRINE BOWL TEAMS

The Board of Directors for the Shrine Bowl Of Wyoming has divided the state into North and South teams that are made up of the following schools.

North Team: Big Horn, Buffalo, Burlington, Campbell County, Cody, Dubois, Greybull,
Hot Springs County, Hulett, Jackson Hole, Kelly Walsh, Lander Valley, Lovell, Meeteetsee, Midwest, Moorcroft, Natrona County, Newcastle, Powell, Riverside, Riverton, Rocky Mountain, Sheridan, Shoshoni, Sundance, Ten Sleep, Tongue River, Upton, Wind River, Worland, Wright, Wyoming Indian, Normative Services, Kaycee.

South Team: Big Piney, Burns, Cheyenne Central, Cokeville, Douglas, Cheyenne East, Evanston, Glenrock, Green River, Gurnsey-Sunrise, Hanna-Elk Mountain, Kemmerer, Laramie,
Lingle-Ft.Laraime, Lyman, Mountain View, Niobrara County, Pine Bluffs, Pinedale, Rawlins, Rock Springs, Saratoga, Southeast, Star Valley, Torrington, Wheatland, Farson/Eden, Little Snake River.

At the end of the football season the head coach for each school is sent a form to nominate any player from his team who will have graduated prior to playing in the game that he feels is of sufficient quality and worthy of being considered for the next years Shrine Bowl All Star Team. The game to be played in June of the following year.

These nomination forms are then given to the head coaches that have been chosen to represent the North or South Shrine teams. The head coach and his staff will have the sole responsibility for selection of participants.

The Shrine Bowl Board Of Directors have set the following rules for the coaches to follow when selecting the players for their teams.

1. Each of the five (5) classes (1A Six Man- 1A- 2A -3A- 4A) recognized by the Wyoming High School Activities Association must be represented on each All-Star Football Squad.

2. Each team will made up of the following and each participant must meet the requirements set by the NCAA and WHSAA.
36 Players
12 Alternate Players
1 Team Trainer assigned by the Trainers Association
1 Team Manager
6 Coaches
1 Adult Trainer assigned by the Trainers Association

3. No more than five (5) players can be selected from more than one high school for each team.

4. No more than four (4) players can be selected from another high school for each team.

5. No more than three (3) players can be selected from the remaining high schools for each team.

6. If only four (4) players are picked from any school, then three (3) schools may have four (4) players.

7. Each player of the team will be assigned a starting position on either the offensive unit, the defensive unit, or on one or more specialty units. Each player must play a minimum amount of time in the All-Star Game according to his starting role.

8. Each participant must take and pass a certified physical examination (signed by a licensed physician) within the time period prescribed by the Wyoming High School Activities Association for the present school year. This document must be filed with the Executive Director of the Wyoming Shrine Bowl Inc. prior to the start of practice.

9. Twelve (12) alternates will be selected for each team. It is made clear to the alternates that they may not play but they will be listed in the game program. If a player is unable to play in the game then one of the alternates will fill his position.
